Look Past The Fire. Chapter 1 Part 1

 


"We need to spread the word like a wildfire. We need to get to people like an illness. We need to be the symbol of God. God's word did not travel through thin air. It takes a conversation, trust, and honesty. War is upon us and America is losing to Mexico. The enemy is getting closer everyday. What does God want? He wants peace. If this is God's plan then he will let us be calm and show us the way. These are not nice people, words will not stop their insanity. They have a deep goal and they have the weapons and strength needed to reach for it. " 
    
     Ellie turned her head to the window, pretending that the voice was trailing off but realizing it's only growing closer. Pastor Gardner never talked about the war like this. Was it becoming this serious? It was invading Ellie's life leaving no room for hope. At school they were teaching spanish defense words. They would practice lockdown drills every week. There was new safety utilities to place in homes. The talk was everywhere. They were selling new weapons at grocery stores. Ellie's parents tried so hard to keep Ellie in her own world where everything was innocent and safe. Yet, the truth was out that there was no way this wouldn't be a bad memory for the rest of her life.
